Van crashes into street vendor stalls and nine pedestrians NR22164ne

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Central Traffic Division is investigating a traffic accident involving nine pedestrians in the rampart area.

On June 11, 2022, at 8:35 a.m., a driver driving a black 2001 Ford F150 truck was traveling westbound on Wilshire Boulevard from Westlake Avenue. For some unknown reason, the driver drove onto the sidewalk and rammed into several street vendor stalls and pedestrians, including two children, at the northeast corner of Alvarado Street and Wilshire Boulevard.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene. The driver, a passenger and all pedestrians were slightly injured. However, the driver, passenger, a male pedestrian, three female pedestrians, an 8-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were transported as a precaution to local hospitals. Two adult males and one adult female refused further medical treatment.

It was initially reported that a gun was pointed at the driver by an unknown man; however, after further interviews with the driver and witnesses, no firearms were ever seen. The investigation also revealed that there were no signs of impaired driving or other related crimes.
