Rashida Jones’ essential beauty and skin care routine

In Bustle’s Beauty Detail, we dive into the beauty kits of our favorite talents for information on the rituals that keep them glowing and the MVPs (most valuable products) they can’t live without. Here, Rashida Jones talks to Bustle about her favorite drugstore beauty products and the 2000 era makeup item she still uses

Rashida Jones knows what she loves in beauty which is why she has her go-to look. “I’ve really had the same aesthetic all my life, in a weird way,” she tells me on Zoom. “I’m very simple: I wear an SPF tinted moisturizer, a cream blush, a very thin cat’s eye and eyelashes. That’s it.”

It’s also why the actor, director, screenwriter, and producer is the queen of effortless bangs – when I ask her style secret, Jones admits she doesn’t have one … she’s had them ever since. age 3. “To be honest, this was a default look for me – it’s an easy way to make it look like I’ve done something when I really haven’t done anything,” she laughs.

That’s not to say that Jones, who recently partnered with Citi as he launched his Personalized payment card, doesn’t mess around with her beauty routine – she just refined it over time and figured out what works well with her skin. “I can’t deny my age anymore, so my skin can’t be a test site,” she tells me. “I have to find my proven things that I know are working for me. And I firmly believe that beauty begins on the inside, whether it’s your actual attitude and how you treat people to hydrate and eat well.

The star especially enjoys expressing her low-maintenance beauty philosophy while behind the camera. “That’s precisely why I do dubbing: you don’t have to do your hair or make up,” Jones laughs. “Poor engineers … they’ve got my version very out of bed.” “

It’s clear that Jones takes a relaxed approach to her makeup and hair. And to add further evidence to that? She is a lover of beauty in the pharmacy. “Beauty products at the drugstore are the ones that have been around for so long, and there’s a reason for that – they’re good and they work,” she tells Bustle. “In the end, how are you going to do better than Maybelline mascara?

As for the rest of his favorites? Here are the skin care and makeup products in Jones’ beauty cabinet.

His pharmacy staple

“I am drawn to this pink and green bottle. This is my favorite for mascara. I tend to look for evergreen products. But someone just mentioned that Maybelline has a new one called it Sky high so maybe i should try this.

Her nostalgic favorite

“I like juicy hits. You know they’re back – it’s really exciting … it’s the ’90s again. And you know what, they did a little better. They are not so clingy [as they were back in the day] and they smell so, so good.

Her essential eyeliner

“I love Stila – they have a great felt that’s really delicate and quite firm, and that’s the trick to me. You don’t want a brush, you want something that almost looks like a pencil that will help you keep that line straight. The trick is to create the angle first, then you make your line as thin as you can on the cover, then you meet that angle. Then you fill in where you meet the colon. Alexa Chung has a very good tutorial on YouTube because she is the queen of cat eyes.

Its essential for skin care

“True Botanicals Pure Radiance Oil is my favorite – it’s better than any other oil. It’s not greasy, it doesn’t make you pop – I put it on twice a day, I love it so much.

Her favorite beauty device

“I love ZIIP. You can kind of feel it going through your skin. It’s great for lymphatic drainage and it really takes all that kind of swelling off your face. ”
