Louise McSharry: The best products to achieve the “ no makeup ” look – the perfect disguise for a tired face

[ad_1]

The other day, I was doing my makeup quickly before going on a date, when I had a terrible shock. After I finished my “feel better in five minutes” face, I surprised myself in the mirror and realized that I was, in fact, wearing “no makeup.” What have I become?

have never been a “no makeup” girl. I am a woman who was looking for Urban Decay pallets like a heat seeking missile in the 2000s because they have the best shine. I am a woman who will always prefer the neon liner to the black liner. I am a woman who has spent her life saying, “Who would buy brown mascara?” Still, I was there, realizing that this look I often turn to when I’m in a rush was a ‘no makeup‘ look.

It makes sense when you think about it. I am in my thirties with two children under the age of five, it is only natural that my makeup motivation may have changed. Where it used to be about making a statement or having fun, now it seems like sometimes it’s about masking the fact that I’m exhausted and haven’t washed in a few days. “No makeup makeup” is perfect for this. ‘No Makeup ” is to make your face look like your face again. It’s about healthy flushing of the cheeks, skin that feels like drinking a lot of water, and eyelashes that are there, damn it. Exactly the things a woman with young children struggles with.

There are plenty of shiny products out there to help you achieve this look fast, even if you have a toddler hanging on your leg. For the skin, I recommend not quite a foundation, as it will allow your face to shine and does not need to be blended particularly well. (Careful mixing is very difficult to achieve while a child smashes a lipstick in front of you, loudly repeating, “Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum, Mum …” throughout).

I liked (1) Clinique Moisture Surge Sheertint Moisturizer (36 € to arnotts.ie) and Sculpted By Aimee’s Tint & Glow (€ 25 to sculptedbyaimee.com) for this reason. Both contain moisturizing ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and SPF, so they’ll leave your skin feeling juicy and plumped (with a little extra sun protection).

Rinsed cheeks are easily achieved by dabbing on a natural shade of cream blush. (2) Clinique Amp’d Up Apple Chubby Stick (23 € to mulliganspharmacy.com), is a beautifully wearable shade of pink. I think it would suit anyone and is quite subtle, great for people who don’t want their blush to be seen from space (if you want you can layer it). N ° 7’s Pop and Glow Cream Blush Stick in classic pink (€ 6.75 to boots.ie) is a good alternative in terms of budget. If you are feeling fancy, all the (3) Atelier Westman The range lends itself perfectly to the “no makeup” look. Her Baby Cheeks blush stick (€ 54 to brownthomas.com) is wonderful.

Personally, I can’t extend the look without makeup to my mascara, I just have to apply five dramatic coats, but if you like a subtle “ your lashes but better ” look, Glossier’s Lash Slick (€ 16 at glossier.com) covers each lash and maximizes length, but doesn’t add much volume they could really be your eyelashes.

An eyebrow mascara will make your brows look more groomed, whether you prefer a clear or tinted gel. I appreciate (4) Brow Boy Brow (15 € to glossier.com) and (5) The Essence Make Me eyebrow (€ 3.10 at mccabespharmacy.com). A tinted lip balm or stain will finish things off nicely. Charlotte Tilbury’s new Tinted Love lip and cheek shades (€ 32 to charlottetilbury.com) are comfortable to wear with long lasting color.

And don’t forget: your real natural beauty is pretty good too. If you just can’t be bothered, don’t worry!

As I am Hair products were developed in the mid-2000s in response to the growing number of Afro-haired women seeking products that specialized for their natural texture. Since then, it has become a leading brand for these women and those with other curly hair textures. I am a big fan of his Coconut co-wash (€ 11.99 at BeautyBay.com), which is affordable and lightweight, leaving hair soft and clean.

The Belle Brush (€ 24.99 at thebellebrush.com) is the baby of Nancy Cavanagh, a hairdresser from Galway who identified the need for a new brush while working with her clients. It uses soft nylon bristles which are gentle on hair extensions and short bristles to distribute needed oils throughout the hair. Since its release, the brush has become extremely popular with people with sensitive scalps, whether they wear extensions or not. Kids love it so much that parents can now buy the Baby Belle (€ 19.99), a mini version of the original brush.
