I have a love/hate relationship with cleansing balms. Yes, they remove my makeup gently and thoroughly, but the experience of using them has always left a lot to be desired – sticking my finger in a jar of product always makes me feel Icky. So when Eadem launched a new version of a cleansing balm in a tube, I was immediately won over.

Squeeze Eadem Dew Dream Cleansing Balm ($30) into your palm and you’ll see a clear gel. But rub it between your hands and it instantly melts into a smooth, oily balm. This is thanks to a blend of tiger grass, which smoothes and nourishes damaged skin; allantoin, which hydrates and supports skin health and cell renewal; and Kalahari Melon and Moringa, which work together to unclog pores and soak up excess oil with a rich source of fatty acids and antioxidants.

I use the balm as the first step in my double cleanse routine (I cleanse twice every night to remove makeup, sunscreen, and dirt from the day), and love how it makes my skin feel nice and clean.

“Overnight cleansing is extremely important for removing oil, dead skin cells, and environmental debris lodged inside pores,” says Michele Koo, MD, plastic surgeon and founder of the skincare line. Private Practice by Dr. Koo “Double cleansing can be important if you don’t use a separate makeup remover.”

According to skin professionals, cleansing balms are one of the best of the best ways to kick-start your double-cleanse routine. They’re oil-based, which means they sweep dirt and oil from your skin (remember the “like attracts” principle from high school chemistry class?) to leave your complexion clean without strip it.

“Oil cleansing balms remove oil-based impurities and free radicals that can lead to breakouts and premature aging,” said Charlotte Cho, founder of K-beauty skincare store Soko Glam. and from the Then I Met You line to Well + Good. “Often we don’t realize how many impurities are on our skin, so specifically cleansing with a cleansing oil to gently remove makeup, excess oil and sunscreen sets the canvas for clean, healthy skin. ” To get the most out of your balm, work it into dry hands, massage it into your skin, then rinse with water.

Ready to be converted into a cleansing balm without having to dig into a tub? Eadem Dew Dream Cleansing Balm is perfect.
