Over 1,000,000 pages evaluated on Crowdmark

When we started Crowdmark in 2012, I never imagined that we would be building a solution to change the dialogue between students and educators. We were simply building a platform to ease the pain of grading thousands of pages of handwritten student work for a math competition. Fortunately our solution resonated with educators and our grading platform became a full time commitment. We hired a talented team and based on feedback from our community we built a solution that is in use at over 25 institutions around the world to grade student assessments.

Along the way, we discovered that Crowdmark did more than improve grading productivity. Educators shared that it was improving their feedback to students, students reported that it improved their learning experience and graders were delighted to have an alternative to carrying around and grading thousands of papers.

I am very proud to share that Crowdmark has surpassed an important milestone. Our community of graders, teaching assistants, lecturers and professors has evaluated more1 than one million pages of student work! This achievement goes far beyond the return of scores. Crowdmark evaluations, with graphical annotations and rich feedback, enlivened with hyperlinks, embedded images, chemical and mathematical notations, are delivered back to students digitally, without wasting instructional time passing back papers. In collaboration with the educators and students that use our platform, Crowdmark will continue to transform assessment into a dialog improving the teaching and learning experience.

1 The one millionth page was evaluated by a grading team from the University of Auckland on April 2. At the time of this writing, the total number of evaluated pages is 1,044,523 spread across 354,107 assessments. The total number of pages uploaded and securely archived on Crowdmark is 3,381,771.
