Africa has the fastest rate of urbanization in the world, and this rapid population increase in cities has only intensified poverty for the urban poor. In a city in West Africa, God led these international workers to an informal settlement—an entire community of people living in shanties and scrap-made structures. Ministry here isn’t just about proclaiming the gospel in word, it’s about meeting the acute physical and practical needs of a group of impoverished people. It’s about building relationships of respect and trust. The love of Christ compels these workers to be present and delight in pointing this community towards the hope of Jesus.
